Department of Emergency Medicine
Lehigh Valley Health Network has three emergency departments staffed by an experienced emergency medicine group. This group cares for more than 115,000 patients annually and has patient satisfaction scores that are among the best in the nation. The Emergency Department features Express ER for those requiring less serious emergency care, and an MI Alert system to provide balloon angioplasties for heart attack patients within 90 minutes of arrival. The Level 1 Trauma Center was the first in the state and remains one of the busiest, caring for more than 1,000 patients annually. It is one of four trauma centers in Pennsylvania with added qualifications in pediatric trauma care, and one of only three with a dedicated burn center. Our multidisciplinary team has eight trauma surgeons and more than a dozen surgical specialists, including orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, pediatrics and cardiology. Our 24-hour trauma services include helicopter transport through University MedEvac.
